"Tuck Shop" - Not an expression in frequent use here in Ireland.

"Tuck Shop" - Not an expression in frequent use here in Ireland.

This shop caught my attention because "Tuck Shop" is am expression not often used in Ireland and also because it is located across the street from Belvedere College.

A tuck shop is a small, food-selling retailer. It is a term principally used in the UK, and occasionally in other parts of the former British Empire. A tuck shop located within a school typically sells confectionery such as sweets, crisps, soft drinks and so on.

Belvedere College SJ is a private secondary school for boys located on Great Denmark Street, Dublin, Ireland. It is also known as St. Francis Xavier's College

Belvedere was founded in 1832. The school currently has almost 1000 pupils enrolled and has a number of famous alumni in the world of the arts, politics, sport, science and business.
